Start of Swim Season

The start of swim season is fast approaching. The first swim is Tuesday September 7th, 8PM at the Shaw Center, followed by drinks at Winston’s pub downtown. All members and interested swimmers welcome.

Starting this season, the Saskatoon Masters Swim Club will be using online registrations. Please register at http://picatic.com/ticket/SMSC/.

Saskatoon Masters Swim Club is a group of people from ages 18 to 85 from all walks of life who love to swim. They swim for fitness, for fun, for health reasons, for competition and to meet new people. The Swim Club has 5 swim times (listed below) at the Shaw Aquatic Center. Each session is coached by a Level 1 Coach who will help you make sense of the workout as well as improve your stroke techniques. Our club is a social club as well. We hold regular potluck suppers at swim members homes, host refreshment evenings following swim sessions and enjoy Saturday morning coffee at the local Tim Horton’s. All activities are optional.

Note: Swim season if from the start of September to the end of June.

New swimmers:

New swimmers are encouraged to come out and try a swim practice, the first one is free. You can then join the club by completing the registration documentation and bringing it to the next swim.

The term “Masters” shouldn’t scare you off – it is not a code word for “serious” or “elite”. A tiny percentage of Masters swimmers fit that description but most probably swim just like you do – or they did until they joined a Masters team and started to improve their swimming. Once you become a Masters swimmer you are eligible to compete in competitions at the local, provincial, national, and international level if you so desire. If you travel a lot most Masters Swim Clubs welcome visiting members. You can find out if there is a club in the area you are visiting by looking at the Masters Swimming Canada website (www.mymsc.ca) or the United States Masters Swimming website (www.usms.org).
